The Solution

To improve productivity and weld quality across their self-storage product range, Storco integrated Autoa’s M-1200 Robotic Welding Cell into their manufacturing operations. Designed for high-mix, low to medium volume production, the M-1200 offers a compact dual-station setup that enables continuous welding with minimal downtime — making it an ideal fit for robotic welding for storage manufacturing.

The cell includes an OTC Daihen FD-B6 through-arm robot, FD19 controller and teach pendant, and a Welbee P502L welding power source — selected for its stable arc performance and smooth weld finishes. A manual 2-position rotator allows operators to safely load and unload parts while welding continues on the opposite side, helping to maintain production flow without interruption.

Additional features such as a tip cleaning station and integrated safety system ensure consistent performance and safe operation. The M-1200 provides Storco with a dependable, efficient platform to meet production demands while maintaining high-quality welds across every project.

The Results

The integration of robotic welding for storage manufacturing has strengthened Storco’s already capable manufacturing process — delivering greater consistency, improved weld quality, and more efficient use of operator time.

The dual-station layout allows parts to be loaded and unloaded while welding continues, helping to maintain a steady production flow. The cell produces clean, repeatable welds with minimal variation, reducing the need for rework and contributing to smoother downstream processes.

With operators now focusing more on part preparation and quality checks, the overall workflow has become more streamlined, supporting Storco’s commitment to precision and productivity.

The IMPACT ON Storco’S BUSINESS

The integration of robotic welding for storage manufacturing has supported Storco’s broader strategy of scaling operations while maintaining the high standards their customers expect. By reducing manual welding requirements, the M-1200 cell has helped free up skilled team members for other high-value tasks across the workshop.

The added consistency and reliability of the welding process has given the business greater confidence in lead times and project planning — a valuable asset as Storco continues to grow its footprint across Australia and New Zealand.

Robotic welding for storage manufacturing now forms an important part of Storco’s production capability, reinforcing their commitment to quality, efficiency, and long-term innovation.
